Colour Palette
The visual identity draws from the colours
and textures of baking.
Earthy browns, warm beige tones and muted greens create a palette that feels natural, comforting and rooted in the world of bread, dough and grain.
Together, these elements build a visual language that feels warm, craft-driven and recognisable within Mumbai’s crowded café landscape.
Grain & Glaze speaks with warmth and familiarity, reflecting the comfort and craft of a neighbourhood boulangerie.
Neighbourhood Familiarity
Instead of feeling like a destination café, the brand aims to feel like a familiar stop in the routine of the neighbourhood.
Grain represents the foundation of baking. Flour, fermentation and the craft behind breads
and savouries.
Glaze represents the finishing touch.
The sweetness and indulgence that turns baked goods
into something memorable. Together, the name reflects the balance at the heart of the boulangerie. Craft at the base, indulgence on top.
The name also lends itself naturally to shorthand forms like GG and GNG, making it easy for customers to reference the brand in conversation. This creates
a memorable verbal identity that feels casual, friendly and well suited to a neighbourhood bakery.
Grain & Glaze speaks with warmth and familiarity, reflecting the comfort and craft of a neighbourhood boulangerie.
The language celebrates the joy of baked food
and everyday indulgence while remaining approachable and grounded. Rather than sounding overly premium or technical, the tone focuses
on flavour, warmth and the small rituals
that surround bakery culture.
Brand Archetypes

and the joy of experimentation. From flaky croissants to flavour-forward pastries and savouries, the brand celebrates creativity in the kitchen and the pursuit
of perfecting everyday bakes.

• Celebrating the artistry behind boulangerie culture
Caregiver
At its heart, Grain & Glaze is about comfort
and hospitality. The boulangerie aims to feel welcoming and familiar, a place people return
to for warmth, indulgence and a small moment
of comfort in their day.
How this shows up
• Warm, inviting brand language
• A neighbourhood bakery atmosphere
• Food designed to comfort as much as delight
Emotional Influence: Lover
The brand celebrates indulgence and pleasure in food. Buttery croissants, rich desserts and comforting flavours create moments that feel rewarding
and memorable.
This influence allows Grain & Glaze to feel playful, indulgent and sensory rather than purely functional.
With Grain & Glaze, the ambition was to bring that experience into a physical neighbourhood café.
Grain & Glaze began with a team that already understood baking as a craft rather than just
a menu category.
The parent company behind Citta Comida, Mumbai’s well-known B2B cloud bakery, had spent years supplying baked products across the city.
Through this experience, the team saw how baked food quietly becomes part of people’s daily routines,
a croissant with coffee, a quick savoury bite between meetings, or a small indulgence at the end of the day.

Background & Context
MYLK partnered with the team behind Citta Comida
to build a boulangerie brand designed to cut through Mumbai’s crowded café market. Rather than competing as another all-day café, Grain & Glaze
was built around the rituals of baking, shaping
it into a neighbourhood boulangerie rooted in craft, comfort and everyday indulgence.

Brand Positioning
The positioning focused
on three key ideas:
Craft At The Core
Grain & Glaze celebrates the foundations
of baking - grains, dough and fermentation.
Thus bringing attention back to the process behind the product.
Everyday Indulgence
The boulangerie is designed to be part
of daily life, offering comforting savoury bites and sweet pastries that people
return to regularly.
Together, these ideas shape Grain & Glaze as a place defined not by trends or novelty, but by
craft, comfort and repeat ritual.
The bakery was originally going to launch under
the name Lifafa, but trademark limitations made
it necessary to rethink the identity.
This opened the opportunity to choose a name
that better reflected the full offering of the boulangerie.
Because the bakery serves both artisan breads and indulgent pastries, the name needed to capture the two sides of the experience.

The intent was clear.

MYLK was brought in to shape that foundation.
1
Celebrate the craft of baking while keeping the experience warm and approachable.
2
Turn everyday bakery items into
a recognisable neighbourhood habit.
3
Create a boulangerie serving both
sweet and savoury bakes.
4
Build a place people return
to as part of their routine.

Logo System & Typography
The Grain & Glaze logo reflects the warmth and craft
at the heart of the boulangerie.
The primary form draws inspiration from the arched windows often seen in bakeries and cafés. It represents the feeling of looking into a warm space filled
with the smell of fresh bread and pastry. The layered arch also mirrors the texture and cross-section
of a sliced loaf, subtly referencing the depth and richness of baked goods.
At the centre of the mark sits the wheat motif, representing the “grain”. It signals the foundation
of baking and the brand’s connection to simple,
honest ingredients.
The outer drip completes the arch and represents
the “glaze”. It captures the finishing touch that transforms baked goods from everyday staples into moments of indulgence and craft.
The ampersand between Grain and Glaze carries a soft, flowing motion inspired by the movement of batter, glaze and cream. It reflects the creative and expressive nature of baking.
The typography complements this system with tall, elegant letterforms that feel artisanal while still remaining approachable. The wordmark allows the brand to feel established and distinctive without becoming overly decorative.
Together these elements create a logo that balances structure and warmth. The visual language remains minimal and refined while still capturing the comfort, craft and everyday pleasure that define
the Grain & Glaze experience.
